Choose a study path

Choose the stream that speaks to your question. You do not need to move through both, and studying one does not grant authority in the other. The paths share an emphasis on careful reading, conscious practice, and responsibility while preserving each tradition’s language and foundations.

The school brings both streams together here. The blog has a separate home for each, and Patreon has three membership choices: Luciferian Quimbanda Studies, Occult Philosophy & Practice, and Umbrus School — Both Streams. The current paid Souls lecture remains available through the Luciferian Quimbanda Studies membership The philosophy stream currently has no released lectures.

Luciferian Quimbanda Studies

This stream speaks from my guided study under Mestre Bárbara Toledo at the Escola Iniciática Quimbanda Luciferiana. Its focus is Luciferian Quimbanda of the Souls; other houses may teach differently. The souls are approached within the tradition as conscious spiritual beings with their own agency, rather than reduced to symbols of the practitioner’s inner life.

Start with context. Read the opening of the free Cult of the Souls essay to understand the lineage being discussed and the Portuguese word culto, here used for a practice of honoring and relating.

Read the free essay. Follow its question about honoring the dead, ancestral relationship, and the responsibility that remains with the living.

Read The Cult of the Souls

Continue with the paid reading lecture. The Cult of the Souls: Relationship, Spirit Agency, and Responsibility develops the distinctions and includes a hypothetical everyday decision and reflection questions. Reading the essay first is helpful, but it is not a membership prerequisite.

Continue to the reading lecture

Pause and make the distinction your own. After reading, write three sentences: what the tradition teaches about the souls, what you understand from the explanation, and what you still need to ask. Keep an interpretation separate from a certainty. This is a reading reflection, not a rite or a school assessment.

Further conceptual study can develop the roles of Exus, Pombagiras, Pretos Velhos, and Caboclos, followed by the place of nature, materials, cycles, and symbolic language within this lineage. These are directions for future work, not additional released lessons. Initiatory rites, private protocols, and lineage assessments are outside this public learning path.

Occult Philosophy & Practice

This stream begins by asking what we mean by religion, spirituality, philosophy, and occultism. Historical context gives those words a setting; philosophical inquiry helps us examine the assumptions we bring to them. From there, we can study Hermetic ideas and symbolic language without treating every tradition as the same system.

The developing sequence is foundations and religious history; the meeting of esoteric traditions; Hermetic philosophy; symbolism in context; and critical inquiry into philosophical and esoteric thought. Practical teaching will connect understanding to deliberate choices, observation, and reflection as individual lessons are prepared.

Dedicated essays and paid lectures in this stream have not yet been released. Its place in the school is established, while the available reading path currently begins with Luciferian Quimbanda Studies.

Begin with a question you can examine. Write one claim you bring to occult study. Identify whether it comes from a tradition, a personal experience, an interpretation, or empirical evidence. Then note what would help you understand it more carefully. You need not dismiss its spiritual meaning to examine how you arrived at it.

Learning with care

Read for context, explain an idea in your own words, and identify the next question before moving on. A useful lesson should deepen understanding rather than simply add vocabulary. The teaching here is non-initiatory and does not confer certification, rank, or lineage membership.
